Greece Like a Goddess

Departing August 2023

A heaven sent escape

Greece Like a Goddess has it all: luxury, culture and history, retail therapy and some seriously great dining. Crafted to include the most divine spots in Athens, Santorini, Crete, and the lesser-travelled island of Milos, this escape will have you immersed in a fabulous combination of ancient culture and contemporary style. If ever there was a luxury tour to Greece created for a goddess, then surely this must be it!

Your Greek odyssey begins in Athens, where the ghosts of ancient civilisations rub shoulders with a stylish, contemporary crowd. You’ll enjoy a private guided tour of Greece’s most famous monument, the Acropolis, and delve into city life by dining in trendy restaurants and shopping in all the best boutiques. Stepping back in time, you’ll discover the UNESCO World Heritage monasteries at Meteora and the ancient Temple of Delphi (so awe-inspiring and incomprehensible they will take your breath away), before continuing to the volcanic island of Milos. Here there is time to snorkel and soak up the sunshine on isolated beaches, sail on a private yacht and linger over long lunches in the shade of bougainvillea. Santorini calls next, with it picture-perfect coastline and blue-roofed houses, followed by Crete to sample Greece’s fabulous gastronomy and stroll the puzzled alleys that the Venetians, the Ottomans and the old Cretans have all occupied.

Throughout, the accommodation is private and exclusive, in the signature ‘Journeys for Women’ style that defines our bespoke itineraries. Travelling with a small group, you’ll enjoy the companionship of a handful of likeminded ladies, but also have plenty of opportunity to relax and take some time out should you wish.

This itinerary is a heaven sent escape – perfectly gorgeous for any goddess!

Today you will depart Meteora and drive down south to Athens to Fly to your next adventure.

On your way you will have a short stop to Thermopylae, the “Hot Gates”, world-famous for the battle that took place there between the Greek forces and the invading Persian forces. In 480 BC, 300 Spartans under King Leonidas, along with 700 Thespians, delayed the vast army of Xerxes in a legendary last stand, following the betrayal by Ephialtes, who showed the Persians how to outflank the Greek forces.

Today, you can see the famous monument depicting Leonidas in full armor opposite the historic hill of Kolonos, and the hot springs of Thermopylae, an important spa resort in Central Greece

You will also visit the seaside town of Kammena Vourla where you may enjoy a delicious lunch by the sea (own account).

Milos is a volcanic island with many different and mind-blowing beaches due to its volcanic geography. As most of these beaches are quite isolated, a great way to fully explore them would be a sailing experience to have some fun swimming snorkelling time, during which you might also have the chance to go inside one of the many caves made of volcanic rocks of the island!

On arrival you are met by a private transfer to your hotel, home for the next 2 nights. Check into the hotel and then dinner this evening is at the hotel….

Take a walk down the inlet so you can experience this one-of-a-kind beach, take photographs and feel as if you’ve landed on the moon.

Your next stop will be the port of the ancient city of Milos, that is nowadays the fishing village of Klima. The houses there are called “Syrma”, the Greek word for cable wire, which is used to pull the boats out of the water and into the house, like a modern garage. The colorful doors and the seafront create a picture that summarises the essence of a Greek island!

From there, you will travel the picturesque road along the coast towards the capital of the island, Plaka and its cobble streets and alleys. OVERNIGHT: Milos Cove Hotel

This morning we leave Milos for the most famous of Greek Islands, Santorini. Only a 2.5 hour fast boat transfer and you are there. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your beautiful hotel.

Santorini’s beauty has been waxed lyrical over the years, fully earning the epithet “kalliste” (the most beautiful). Along with “Strogili”, this was one of the former names lent to the island over its troubled history.

Its history is one of battles and conquers, of a tragic eruption and a blossoming renaissance – events that haven’t altered Santorini’s charm but that undoubtedly scarred it.

Together with the inhabited Therania and five other smaller islands, Thera (Santorini’s Greek name) belongs to the namesake archipelago which is the vestige of a volcanic caldera. Places of unspoiled nature and postcard-like views, the islands are reachable by boat and bear the original appeal of the old-fashioned Santorini. The main island is split further into picturesque villages masterly painted in dazzling blue and white hues, outlining the holiday resort’s multi-faceted personality and its extraordinary variety of landscapes.

The scent of wine grapes and vineyards stretching lazily down Santorini’s unrefined hills; the unique taste of tomatoes grown solely on volcanic soil and the soaring temperature of the island; the subtle sand or the smoothness of white pebbles and turquoise waters of some of Europe’s most suggestive beaches; the upbeat sound of the buzzing nightlife; the spectacle of the sun setting behind the village of Oia and the caldera to finally plunge into the skyline.

Santorini gratifies all 5 senses, treating the traveller to enchanting views and thousands of colours.

This afternoon it is all yours to enjoy at leisure.

This evening we meet for a pre dinner drink and talk about the adventures of the day, the time for some delicious dining so get out your coastal glam and let’s go.

OVERNIGHT: Andronis Boutique Hotel

The traditional settlement of Oia is the first that has been included in the program for the preservation and development of traditional settlements in Greece. It is a unique point where you can see and experience all the magic of Santorini. The architecture, the aura of the village, and the caldera are gorgeous. There are many dining options in Oia from traditional taverns, to atmospheric restaurants, all with caldera views. During sunset, it’s almost as if an alarm goes off and everyone is headed toward the Castle of St. Nicholas. Nevertheless, in Oia you can go any time of the day you want, the unique atmosphere of the settlement will carry you away. There are many divine boutiques and jewellery stores, plus local artisans to explore during the morning…

Then you will have the unique opportunity to view the sunset wfrom the comfort of your catamaran.

You will be transferred to the port to embark on your catamaran, where the captain and crew will greet you with a welcome drink.

Dive into the crystal-clear waters of Red Beach and ask the crew for the snorkelling equipment, as you should definitely explore the seafloor! Then, you will stop by the White Beach for swimming and BBQ, where you will enjoy a variety of Greek dishes, all cooked and served on board. You will pass by the Lighthouse, south of the Caldera, and enjoy a dip at the Hot Springs.

Heading toward Ammoudi port, you will view Oia and the most colourful sunset you’ve ever seen. As the sun slowly dips into the sea, creating a scenery straight out of a painting, admire another picture-perfect town, Fira.

Finally, the catamaran will be anchored to the port, where your transfer will be waiting for your return.

Dinner at leisure.

OVERNIGHT: Andronis Boutique Hotel

Today it is time to transfer to the port for your Fast Ferry to Crete.

Check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Visit Tabakaria a district with old leather processing houses found on the rocky eastern side of the city of Chania. Today some of the leather processing houses are still in operation. Adjusted to the natural properties of the land, the buildings have only one floor on the side of the street and two or three floors on the side of the sea. They are made of stone with tile roofs. They are built close to each other with very narrow, steep passages and steps going down to the sea. Tabakaria constitutes a unique architectural complex.

Visit villages near Chania, where the old men talk, argue, discuss, play cards at their local kafeneio or simply find a stretch of beach and immerse the cares of yesterday in the waters of today.
