Refugio Amazonas was built on a 200-hectare private reserve on the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve, approximately 4 hours from Puerto Maldonado, two and a half hour boat trip from the Infierno River Port.

This 32-room lodge was built using a combination of traditional native materials and architecture and modern day eco-lodge technology. The walls dividing each guest room are build using cane. The side of the guestroom that looks out to the forest does not have a wall or screening of any kind, acting as a large window facing the forest. Each guestroom has a private bathroom with The lodge consists of four wings connected by raised boardwalks to a central, two story common area which serves as a lobby, dining room, bar and lounge, providing great canopy views of the surrounding...
