DAY 1 | SYDNEY - LAUNCESTON | 1 NIGHT
Our Journey begins in the morning in Sydney (Bankstown Aerodrome). We board our private aircraft and set course towards the south to make our way to the incredible island of Tasmania. We make a quick stop at Latrobe Valley for lunch and to refuel our aircraft before flying across the Tasman Sea and Flinders Island into Launceston. An evening of fine dining and relaxation awaits as we experience magnificent views of the Tamar River and sumptuous modern Australian cuisine at Hallams Waterfront Seafood Restaurant in Launceston.

DAY 2 | LAUNCESTON - FREYCINET | 1 NIGHT
Explore the Tamar Valley region with a private tour of the region visiting up to 4 boutique vineyards followed by a gourmet lunch featuring local produce. Later in the afternoon we make our way back to the airport for a short flight across to Friendly Beaches airfield, located in Freycinet National Park. We spend the evening relaxing at the luxurious Freycinet Lodge with dinner overlooking the stunning bay, enjoy magnificent views and fresh, local produce.

DAY 3 | FREYCINET - HOBART | 2 NIGHTS
Catch the sunrise over the Tasman sea and enjoy breakfast at the Freycinet Lodge, as we begin our day exploring the surrounding waters of the National Park. Today we cruise across the coastline of Freycinet National Park from Coles Bay to Wineglass Bay aboard the upper deck of the Tasmania built Schouten Passage II. Discover a coast dotted with sparkling white sand beaches, including Cooks and Bryans beaches, only accessible by water or a full day bushwalk. In the afternoon we board our private aircraft for a short flight across to Hobart.

DAY 4 | HOBART
We spend the day exploring the history and natural beauty of the region. Our morning begins amongst nature with a 3 hour wilderness cruise, visiting the highest vertical sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere at Cape Pillar, exploring sea caves and seeing wildlife along the magnificent coastline. Back on shore we spend the afternoon at the Port Arthur Historic site.

DAY 5 | HOBART - STRAHAN | 1 NIGHT
After a hearty breakfast we make our way to the home of the World’s Best Single Cask Single Malt”, awarded at the World Whiskies Awards, Sullivans Cove Distillery. We have a private tasting of the award winning whiskey before heading back to the airport. This afternoon we take a short scenic flight across to the beautiful town of Strahan.

DAY 6 | STRAHAN - KING ISLAND | 2 NIGHTS
Another day of serenity amongst nature as we cruise the magnificent Gordon River, in the heart of the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Visit a working fish farm and enjoy guided tours at Heritage Landing and Sarah Island. After a gourmet lunch, showcasing regional Tasmanian produce, we make our way towards King Island via Wynyard.

DAY 7 | KING ISLAND
Today we explore the island with our local guide. Our days begins with a tour of the town followed by exploring the coastline as we make our way to Cape Wickham. Our guests have a chance to play a round at one of Australians most epic golf courses. This afternoon we then visit the award winning King Island dairy for a tasting of their delectable cheeses.

DAY 8 | KING ISLAND - FLINDERS ISLAND | 1 NIGHT
This morning we depart King Island for a coastal scenic flight to spectacularly rugged Flinders Island. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the fresh air at Trousers Point Beach followed by an afternoon exploring the island with our local guide. Visit the Furneaux Museum and Wybalenna as we journey through the farmland of the east coast to Furneaux Lookout, then to Vinegar Hill for a view across the islands of Franklin Sound and around Lady Barron

DAY 9 | FLINDERS ISLAND - SYDNEY
This morning we explore some more of the island as we make our way back to the airport for our journey back to Sydney. Our flight today takes us over eastern Victoria for a quick fuel stop before we land back in NSW in Merimbula for a quick lunch. We then fly north along the coast towards Sydney.

CANCELLATION DUE TO COVID-19: If the air safari is cancelled due to Covid-19 Government imposed border restrictions, you have the option to receive a full refund or transfer your reservation to a future departure date. If you have to cancel your participation on an air safari due to your inability to enter NSW due to Government imposed travel restrictions, or you reside in a ‘locked down hotspot’, no refund is available; however 70% of the value of your confirmed air safari can be allocated toward a future air safari departure.
YOUR AIRCRAFT :
Travel is in a privately chartered Cessna Grand Caravan turboprop aircraft. Capable of landing on gravel and remote airfields, where other aircraft cannot, the Cessna Grand Caravan is a fast, reliable machine ideal for flying in the Australian Outback. The aircraft is operated by our trusted partners Outback by Air who hold an Air Operators Certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). All highly experienced Outback by Air pilots carry a Commercial Pilots License. The Cessna Grand Caravan is equipped with state-of-the-art avionics and impressive safety features. The interior is comfortable, climate controlled and has large windows, making inflight viewing a joy.
COVID 19 policy :
Outback By Air is committed to providing Outback Tours that showcase the amazing Australian Outback whilst keeping your safety as our number one priority. To ensure you are able to travel safely during these times we have developed a COVID-19 Policy as detailed below. Our policy is followed by our crew and passengers, in the lead up to, as well as whilst on tour.
- As of 1/11/21 all Outback By Air tours will require passengers and crew to have received both doses of a COVID vaccine. This is necessary to ensure that we are able to travel safely within NSW as well as interstate and into remote regions. As per government guidelines, there are medical exemptions in place for passengers unable to receive a vaccine – please consult with your GP.
- Different states and venues may have varying COVID Policies- all Outback By air passengers and crew must also follow the rules of these locations.
- Passengers will be advised that while wearing a mask may not be mandatory in some locations, NSW Health strongly recommends people wear a mask when unable to physically distance.
- Crew are instructed to limit contact with others – no shaking hands or touching objects unless necessary.
- All passengers are provided with individual alcohol-based hand sanitiser, face masks and individual waste bags.
- Passengers will complete a verbal screening questionnaire before embarking on the tour
- Passengers will have their temperature tested each time they board the aircraft.
- Both staff and passengers are encouraged to practice good hand hygiene and good sneeze/cough hygiene by washing hands often with soap and water or with hand sanitiser (provided by OBA) before and after eating and after using the bathroom. They are encouraged to cover nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing, disposing of tissues and immediately washing hands. They are encouraged to avoid touching their mouth, eyes and nose. This health advice is provided in the seat pocket of every passenger seat.
- Passengers will be instructed to stay in their assigned seats for each flight.
- Seats, tables and door handles will be wiped with disinfectant after each flight by a member of staff.
- Where possible, OBA will seat groups together.
- If a member of staff or a passenger reports symptoms of Covid, OBA will immediately contact the National Coronavirus hotline (1800 020 080) and follow all instructions.
- OBA will keep up to date and follow public health and WHS advice

The Owners - Phil Hines & Glenn McGrath
Phil Hines (Founder & director) - Phil has been flying since 1990 and holds licences for both fixed wing and rotary aircraft as well as a commercial helicopter licence. He has flown multi engine charters, scheduled Regular Public Transport flights, and also has agricultural ratings in both aero plane and helicopters. Outback and bush flying has been a big part of his aviation history and he has placed second in the Royal Flying Doctor Service Outback Air Race - twice! There’s barely a patch of our great land he hasn’t seen from the air. Safe to say he knows his stuff. On top of all that he’s just a bloody good bloke – a cheerful ‘salt of the Earth’ type from a farming background with plenty of tales to tell. A great host!
Glenn McGrath (Partner) - Former international cricketer star and McGrath Foundation co-founder and president, Glenn McGrath is born and bred in country NSW and has always had a passion for the Australian Outback. By joining the team at Outback by Air, Glenn can combine his passion for flying and travel throughout The Australian Outback. He believes the iconic destinations we offer on our trips should be on everyone’s bucket list.

The Crew
Outback By Air tours are operated by two experienced pilots who are there to take care of your entire journey through the Outback. From flying you to your destinations, to providing commentary, to taking you on ground tours, the crew provide the highest level of safety and customer service.
The team includes Phil Hines, Andrew Hines, Natalie Tierney, James Branch and Joseph Hallam. The crew have a combined total of over 50,000 flying hours and extensive experience flying throughout the Outback and across the globe, having flown a large range of aircraft and worked at major Airlines. They pride themselves on providing a professional, safe and enjoyable experience for the guests.
