Located on mythical Easter Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the Explora Rapa Nui – Posada de Mike Rapu opened in December, 2007. Facing the sea, the hotel sits on 237 acres in the south-western part of the island, approximately five miles from Hanga Roa, the only town on the island.

Explora Rapa Nui is the most sought after property for travellers to Easter Island, a land whose origins and evolution remain unexplained. The lodge was the first in South America to obtain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the United States Green Building Council. All of the rooms, which extend to the north and south from a central building, have excellent ocean views. The lodge has welcoming indoor spaces which integrate aspects of the local culture. The design is intended to have minimal impact on its surroundings, and the lodge is built on a site which is inappropriate for agricultural use and has no archaeological remains. The flora surrounding it has been maintained intact. The rooms of this all-inclusive hotel spread out from the central area housing the reception, living areas, bar, and kitchen. Next to the common areas is the Casa de Baños Hare Vai spa, with a pool, massage facility and open-air Jacuzzis. Explora Rapa Nui was constructed using volcanic rock and wood from the island.

Every day you can choose from a wide range of explorations on foot, by bicycle or by boat, a couple of hours or full day, relaxed or physically demanding. Explore with specialist guides the mysterious stone statues, or moais, that form an almost unbroken ring around the coast. Learn traditional fishing techniques or snorkel in crystal clear waters amongst abundant marine life.

Explora Rapa Nui is located on a tranquil spot from which the island’s mysteries and dramatic isolation are in full view.
