Corocora Camp

Los Llanos, Colombia

Serengeti of South America

Los Llanos is a 550,000-sq-km region of flooded grassland and savannah that is often dubbed the ‘Serengeti of South America’. Historically it was rarely, if ever, visited by tourists due to its inaccessibility and lack of lodging options, but all that changed with the opening of Corocora Camp.

Corocora Camp is located in a 9,000-hectare private reserve run partly as a traditional cattle ranch, and partly as a nature reserve. Styled on the traditional safari camps of Africa, it offers four spacious tented suites, each adorned with Colombian fabrics and handicrafts, and each boasting an en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and hot running water. Private terraces with traditional hammocks provide the perfect spot for watching the passing animals and birds with a good book in hand. Exquisite...
