Where leopards roam
This is superb game country, with beautifully scenic areas of mopane and ebony woodland as well as open grasslands. Over 60 large mammal species are found including elephant and buffalo, crocodile and hippo and unique subspecies in the Cookson’s wildebeest and Thornicroft giraffe. Lion viewing is also excellent and the region is renowned for one of the highest leopard densities in Africa.
At Nkwali Camp, a maximum of twelve guests can be accommodated in six... cool and spacious chalets, constructed of woven bamboo and thatch. Each chalet has its own enormous open-air en-suite bathroom.The common areas are also breezy and spacious with the bar creatively built around an enormous ebony tree. The separate dining and pool area overlooks a small lagoon which attracts elephant and bushbuck coming in for water.
Activities focus on the Mfuwe Sector’s abundant wildlife viewing opportunities and include game drives, guided night drives and walking.The South Luangwa game walks are considered the best in Southern Africa and are led by a qualified guides and an armed game scout.
There is also the opportunity to visit Kawaza Village – the local community supported by Robin Pope Safaris.
