Leisurely Victoria Falls
The 11 luxury chalets are named after people who, in their day, played a significant part in the history of the country. Each room is individually set within magnificent trees on the edge of the river, has a “loo... with a view” overlooking the Zambezi and faces West to take advantage of the spectacular African sunsets. The lodge is set on a 50 acre secure property with manicured gardens, where one can completely relax. Here there are no early wake up calls and you are encouraged to sleep, rest and enjoy the surroundings. A magnificent rim flow swimming pool, pool loungers, private deck and hammocks complete the setting whilst an all-weather hard tennis court, central croquet lawn and a 2km nature trail that can also be used as a running track are yours to enjoy should you wish to remain active.
Although The River Club is not a game lodge, the Zambezi National Park is located just across the river. Lion calls can often be heard at night and hippo are regularly seen (and heard) along the river’s edge. Games drives in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park can be arranged and offer the chance to see white rhino, some of the only remaining in Zambia. Fishing is good here with Tiger fishing featuring prominently in the warmer months and leisurely boating safaris are a good opportunity to spot the prolific birdlife along the river and drink in the dramatic sunset, gin and tonic in hand.
Daily excursions to Victoria Falls are a highlight along with boating trips to the Zambezi River islands. Trips to the Livingstone & Railway Museums and a nearby African village are also offered. Other activities available at extra cost include white water rafting, river surfing, bungee jumping, abseiling, parachuting, micro light and helicopter flights over the Falls, horse riding, clay-pigeon shooting, canoeing and a round of golf.
