The Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the ‘Smoke that Thunders’) – a name that accurately depicts the plume of spray, visible from a distance, caused by the cascading waters of the Zambezi. The area has spectacular scenery from the falls themselves to the broad, picturesque course of the Zambezi River upstream. The principal town of Livingstone has a friendly local population, markets and museums.

The Royal Livingstone Hotel is situated within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River. From the forested banks of the river, directly in front of the hotel, you can admire the fine spray of the Victoria Falls throwing rainbows hundreds of feet in the air. Named after the intrepid explorer Dr David Livingstone, the hotel is serene and gracious and will immerse you in the romance and style of a bygone era. Accommodation consists of 173 luxurious en-suite guest rooms, all with private verandas which will enable you to enjoy the views over the great river and beyond to the Falls. The Travellers bar and lounge is a place where you can relax under thatched shade and enjoy an impeccably served high tea, fine port or cigar. The a la carte restaurant serves a range of delicacies from around the world.

There are a range of optional activities available from private tours of the Falls to bungee jumping, white water rafting, river surfing, abseiling, sundowner cruises and helicopter or micro light flights over the Falls. A journey into Livingstone town to visit the Livingstone & Railway Museums or local market is worthwhile and all activities can be arranged in advance or with the concierge within The Royal Livingstone Hotel.
